Bridging ADHD research and real-world care for children and families

J. Faye Dixon, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and clinical professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of California, Davis. She serves as clinic director of the ADHD Clinic at the UC Davis MIND Institute and co-director of the Attention, Impulsivity & Regulation (AIR) Lab. With more than three decades of experience in child mental health, Dr. Dixon has built a career focused on advancing the understanding and treatment of ADHD and related conditions affecting children and families.

Dr. Dixon joined the ADHD Program at the UC Davis School of Medicine in 2008, where she has contributed to research and clinical initiatives aimed at improving the identification, treatment, and long-term support of children with ADHD. Her work spans clinical care, research collaboration, and community outreach, helping translate scientific findings into practical guidance for families and educators. In addition to her research involvement, she has played an important role in training the next generation of clinicians and researchers, mentoring psychology graduate students, interns, post-doctoral fellows, and medical trainees in the field of child behavioral health.

Dr. Dixon has also contributed to national public education efforts surrounding ADHD. For several years, she has served as an expert for ADHD Awareness Month, a collaborative initiative led by CHADD, the ADHD Coaches Organization (ACO), and the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA). Through her research, clinical leadership, and educational outreach, Dr. Dixon has helped expand the evidence base around ADHD while improving access to informed care and support for children living with ADHD and their families.
