This article describes how ADHD and substance abuse are connected, and explains how adults and adolescents with ADHD may be at risk for substance use disorders. In terms of treatment, both conditions should be addressed simultaneously; possible interventions include psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. In determining treatment for an individual, careful consideration should be given to their past and family history as well as other existing psychological conditions.

This article discusses the relation of co-morbid depression with ADHD, and is illustrated with case studies. The case studies include analysis, which shows the importance of appropriate diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders.

Este articulo describe como el TDA/H y el abuso de drogas estan relacionadas y explica como los adultos y adolescentes con TDA/H pueden considerarse en riesgo de adquirir trastornos producido por el abuso de las drogas. Concernienta al tratamiento, ambas condiciones deben ser tratadas al mismo tiempo; intervenciones posibles incluyen psicoterapia y terapias farmacologicas. Al determinar tratamiento para el individuo, deben considerarse cuidadosamente la historia medica pasada y familial, asi como otras condiciones psicologicas existentes.
