Contact Your Representatives
As we work to protect access to ADHD treatment, accurate information, and the support so many of us rely on, your advocacy matters. ADHD affects about eleven percent of children and six percent of adults, equaling an estimated 22 million people in the United States.
ADHD is one of the most-studied health conditions in the world and has an evidence-based standard of multimodal care.
In the recent weeks, we have seen a dramatic reshaping of how the United States approaches support for individuals who have ADHD and other challenges related to their well-being. Your elected representatives need to hear from you about how ADHD, and access to current treatment options, has affected your life. Your story is powerful and so is your voice to encourage your representative to support continued access to evidence-based ADHD care.
What to do:
Call, write, or email your representative or senator. Tell them you want them to support continued access to care. Let them know that there is already effective, evidence-based treatment for ADHD. Share your story as someone who has ADHD or who cares for someone with ADHD.

Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am a [parent/educator/advocate/professional] from [City/State]. I’m calling today to encourage [Representative/Senator] [Last Name] to continue to support access to ADHD care and to urge them to continue advocating for the members of their [state/congressional district] who have ADHD and rely on evidence-based treatment and support.
ADHD affects approximately 22 million children and adults, including about 17 percent of the voters in [state/district]. Access to proper diagnosis, support, and effective treatment options are critical to us. Families rely on healthcare coverage, school accommodations, and community resources to ensure individuals with ADHD can thrive. Recent executive orders [https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/establishing-the-presidents-make-america-healthy-again-commission/] will negatively affect the people in [his/her state/district] and we encourage [her/him] to stand up for us in the ADHD community.
I’m asking [Representative/Senator] [Last Name] to continue supporting policies that ensure affordable and accessible ADHD care, including:
- Protect access for ADHD treatment.
- Support funding for ADHD programs, including CHADD’s National Resource Center on ADHD.
You can add your own personal story here if you wish. For example:
“As a [parent/teacher/person with ADHD], I’ve seen firsthand how access to care makes a difference. Without it, people struggle in school, at work, and in daily life. Continued support ensures those with ADHD have the resources to succeed.”
Thank you for your time and for your commitment to ensuring individuals with ADHD receive the care they need. I hope [Representative/Senator] [Last Name] will continue to stand with our community on this important issue.
Take action now!
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the at least 22 million people in the United States who have ADHD.
