Navigating Interviews: Practical Ways to Prepare and Communicate Effectively

Jean Tidd, LISW-S, ADHD-CCSP, SAP, Badass ADHD Coaching

This session teaches interview strategies specifically designed for adults with ADHD. Participants will learn how to set up an organized, low-distraction environment; use memory supports; and practice techniques that improve focus, confidence, and clear communication during both remote and in-person interviews. The session also covers how to manage nervousness, understand different types of interview questions, and talk about ADHD-related work experiences in a professional, confident way.

Participants will be able to:

  • apply ADHD-friendly strategies to manage nervousness, rejection sensitivity, and emotions throughout the interview process.
  • prepare for interviews by organizing their environment, reducing distractions, and using tools that support focus and memory.
  • demonstrate clear and concise responses to interview questions, including those that are vague or open-ended.
  • use memory aids and note-taking strategies to recall key details from interview conversations.
  • explain employment gaps, job changes, or other ADHD-related experiences in a confident and professional way.
