Simple Approaches to Building Connections: Connecting with Others in Manageable Ways

Cassie Colton, MS

This session focuses on practical networking and communication strategies tailored for adults with ADHD. Participants will learn how to strengthen their online presence, connect with others in a meaningful way, and talk confidently about their skills. The session also covers how to manage common challenges such as low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, rejection sensitivity, and difficulties with remembering names or details about new contacts. Participants will explore simple tools and routines that make networking easier and more sustainable.

Participants will be able to:

  • apply ADHD-friendly networking and communication strategies to build and maintain professional connections.
  • identify their personal strengths and describe them clearly to others using a simple elevator pitch.
  • implement strategies to manage low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, and rejection sensitivity during networking interactions.
  • organize and track contacts in ways that support ADHD-related memory challenges.
  • recall key information about new contacts using memory supports and simple follow-up routines.
