I enjoy most working with adults who may have a disorder of executive functioning (e.g., ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or both. Many unknowingly have these conditions, which also have distinct strengths and offer gifts for others. Those affected can benefit from self-knowledge, education, and treatment. Understanding how to meet personal potential and developing new skills and strategies can make a huge difference. A thorough study of your life and history, coupled with evidence-based assessment can determine if part of your story is a disorder of executive functioning, ASD or both. This is the first step leading to treatment, education, and recruiting informed support from family and friends. Almost always my patients are very happy they took the time and expense to find out. If you have a challenge, knowing about it will set the stage for doing much better. Sometimes, I find out there are no psychological issues or challenges. Either way, knowing can be empowering and liberating.
