Study Details

I am a PhD student in the Human-Centered Computing Program at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). I am interested in understanding the work-from-home experiences of adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), especially how they use technologies to stay productive or to enhance their strengths.

I am recruiting participants who either have an ADHD diagnosis, or display behaviors typical of an ADHD diagnosis, to participate in a semi-structured interview and a co-design session. The semi-structured interview will consist of about 15 questions that may have follow-up questions followed by a co-design session. Within the co-design session, participants will be asked to brainstorm a system or concepts that might help them in their work-from-home tasks. Interviews are expected to last between 60-90 minutes. All interactions will happen on Webex. A whiteboard feature FigJam may be used to increase engagement. Both the researcher and the participants can draw within FigJam, similar to using a whiteboard. All interviews will be recorded with audio and video; later the recordings will be transcribed to written form. All recordings and transcripts will only be available to me and my advisors at UMBC and will be edited to remove any additional identifiers before they are stored on an encrypted portable storage device.

Participants will be compensated with a $25 Amazon gift card for their participation in this research.
