Rather than setting off for college immediately after high school graduation, some adolescents prefer to take upwards of a year to explore life and consider career options. Many parents and experts are on board with this idea, also referred to as a “gap year,” with some people saying it can be especially beneficial if the person has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
