 ADHD Weekly 2017-03-23

Children affected by ADHD often need academic accommodations to be successful in school. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 are specifically designed to ensure students with disabilities receive equal access to education and school activities. Both acts guarantee a free and appropriate public education to all children, regardless of ability.

We took the important information about these educational laws and created an easy to understand information graphic to explain the differences between these two approaches.  Your child might qualify for educational supports under IDEA, or under Section 504. Some children will receive services under both laws. Our new information graphic shows the differences between these two laws, how eligibility is determined for children with ADHD, and the types of support received under each.
