CHADD Statement on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B)
Drafted by the CHADD DEI&B Committee
Approved by the CHADD Board of Directors on February 8, 2024
CHADD is deeply committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for our employees, volunteers, and the community we serve. Our mission is rooted in educating and empowering individuals with ADHD and other neurodivergent traits. We firmly believe that embracing diversity in all its forms is crucial to fulfilling this purpose.
For us, diversity extends beyond neurodiversity; it encompasses a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. We strive to acknowledge and celebrate the unique qualities that each individual brings to our community. By recognizing and valuing these differences, we aim to create a space where everyone feels a sense of belonging and is free to express their authentic selves.
Equity is a fundamental principle that guides our work. We are dedicated to dismantling barriers that may hinder the full participation of neurodivergent individuals in all aspects of life. Our organization is committed to identifying and addressing systemic inequalities, advocating for fair access to all our programs and resources across all communities and individuals.
Inclusion is not just a goal but a principle that guides our interactions, programs, and initiatives. By fostering an inclusive culture, we aim to create an environment where every voice is heard and valued.
Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is an ongoing journey. We recognize that learning and evolving are essential components of creating a truly inclusive organization. We actively seek feedback from our community members and continuously educate ourselves to better understand the diverse needs and experiences of the people we serve.
As we advocate for neurodiversity, we extend our commitment to solidarity with other marginalized and under-represented communities. We acknowledge the crucial role of intersectionality and stand against discrimination in all its forms. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where individuals of every race, ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, physical ability, and background can thrive.
At CHADD, we believe that a more inclusive world begins within our own organization. We strive to be a beacon of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, demonstrating that these principles are not just values we uphold but integral to the success of our mission. Together, our organization, volunteers, and the community we serve are working to embrace and uplift the strengths of every individual.
