Volunteering for CHADD

CHADD’s dedicated volunteers are crucial to our mission, offering evidence-based ADHD education and peer support to parents of children with ADHD, adults with ADHD, educators of students with ADHD, and professionals who serve the ADHD community. If you're ready to make a difference, there are so many ways to get involved.

At the national level, opportunities include serving on various committees, our board of directors, or our professional advisory board. Each role helps expand our impact and achieve our mission of supporting individuals affected by ADHD.

Starting a CHADD Chapter

Starting a CHADD chapter is an exciting and meaningful opportunity, but it also requires a significant commitment of time, energy, and thoughtful planning. Building a strong chapter doesn’t happen overnight. It takes dedicated hours to organize, recruit, and foster community at the local level.

Opening new chapters is prioritized not only based on volunteer interest and volunteer leadership strength, but also on CHADD’s capacity to provide guidance and support. This approach helps ensure each chapter can grow sustainably and offer a meaningful, consistent experience for the community.

Step 1: Join CHADD
All volunteer leaders are required to be members in good standing. Membership fosters a sense of belonging and demonstrates commitment to supporting the communities we serve.

Step 2: Get Involved

Take time to volunteer and attend meetings with another CHADD chapter. Active involvement provides valuable insight and a strong foundation for long-term success. Observing how chapters operate and learning to both support others and accept support are essential to sustaining a collaborative, mission-driven community. Even if there are no meetings in your area, many chapters meet virtually, making it easy to begin connecting right away. Please visit our chapter locator to discover current CHADD chapters.

Step 3: Submit Interest
An expression of interest to tell us more about your goals and motivation. While it does not guarantee immediate action, it helps us learn more about prospective leaders, communities, and opportunities for future chapter development. Because strong chapters are built on shared leadership, we prioritize groups of committed individuals rather than a single leader, and this process helps us identify and connect potential teams.

Please note that you must be logged into your member profile to fill out the Expression of Intertest form.
