Education Dept. seeking comments on proposed elimination of 504 Guidance Letter

 ADHD Weekly 2017-09-14

The US Department of Education, to comply with a recent executive order, is evaluating the Dear Colleague Letter and Resource Guide on Students with ADHD and considering its possible elimination.

This “dear colleague” guidance letter was issued by the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights last year and gives guidance to school districts on how to help students affected by ADHD through 504 Plans. It states a student’s educational rights and the school district’s responsibilities. The guidance applies to all public schools in the United States. You can read more about the guidance in the previous ADHD Weekly article Guidance on 504 Plans Issued by U.S. Department of Education.
